What is true
Roughly a third of the Psalms are laments — prayed in the middle of unanswered prayer. God selected them, preserved them, and bound them into His own Word: the words for your silence were handed to you in advance. Job searched every direction and came up empty — yet “he knows the way that I take.”
Three steps you can take today
- Keep asking. Jesus told the widow’s parable “that they must always pray, and not give up” (Luke 18:1) — a contrast, not a comparison: how much more the Father.
- Write your own Psalm 13. Four turns — complaint, plea, trust, song — the Bible’s own template for praying inside silence, short enough to learn tonight.
- Hold Gethsemane. The Son asked for a way out; the answer was strengthening, not rescue (Luke 22:43). Unanswered is not unloved.
