Borrowed Openers — six prayers for when you’re too angry for words

Every line below is Scripture (World English Bible). Pick the one that tells the truth about tonight, and say it to Him — out loud counts double.

“How long, Yahweh? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?”

PSALM 13:1

For when the waiting itself has become the wound.

“Wake up! Why do you sleep, Lord? Arise! Don’t reject us forever. Why do you hide your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?”

PSALM 44:23–24

For when it feels like heaven is asleep on your case.

“Therefore I will not keep silent. I will speak in the anguish of my spirit. I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.”

JOB 7:11

For declaring the policy: no diplomat, no silence — the real you is coming.

“Yahweh, how long will I cry, and you will not hear? I cry out to you “Violence!” and will you not save?”

HABAKKUK 1:2

For when what enrages you is what He has allowed to keep happening.

“Yahweh, why do you reject my soul? Why do you hide your face from me?”

PSALM 88:14

For when the door has been shut a long time.

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning?”

PSALM 22:1

For the worst hours. Prayed with a loud voice by the Son of God Himself (Matthew 27:46).
